The Pink Polka-Dot Club
-----------------------
Chapter 1 - Sean is curious.
Sean peeked out of his window when he awoke and saw them again. Dressed in pink polka-dot dresses, the girls stealthily disappeared into the large clubhouse on the other side of the fence that surrounded his back yard. Some of the girls were blond, and some of them had very dark hair. But, he was enchanted with the girls that had bright reddish-brown hair.
Most of them wore simple pink bows that pulled their hair into full pony-tails, but some of them had two smaller bows that collected their hair into dainty pigtails. All of them wore similar short sleeved white dresses with large pink polka-dots, with the exception of just two of them that donned red dresses with black polka-dots. He had lost track of how many girls there were. For a long time it was just a small gathering, but recently it seemed like the group was getting bigger.
He went to the basketball court, but fewer people were showing up lately. There weren't enough players to make up teams. He played some 1 on 1 with Scott for a while, but quickly got bored. He passed the arcade while walking home, and he pressed his face up to the window. There used to be a crowd in there all the time. He'd been in several gaming competitions with 25 or more people at once. Now there were just a few people casually playing games by themselves. "Something's not right", he thought.
Sean took a shortcut through the woods toward home. As he approached the back of his fenced yard, he saw the mysterious clubhouse from a different angle. It was bigger than he thought it looked from his bedroom window. He walked toward it. As he got closer, he heard a dull cyclical rumbling sound. He became nervous and started to move more slowly, finally tip-toeing up to the west side. He put his ear to the wall and heard chanting from inside. It was rhythmic ... sort of a repeating 1,2,3 pattern. He pressed his ear more intensely, trying to make out the words that were emanating from inside. He focused on the rhythm, closed his eyes, and listened intently.
Suddenly, he felt a tap on his arm which startled him. He opened his eyes and swirled around to see what appeared to be a small girl with blond hair in a white dress with pink polka-dots. "Watcha doin?", she said, in a slightly high pitched southern accent.
Sean was rattled for a moment, but pulled himself together and said "Nothin." Then he realized that his answer wasn't very good, and, thinking that he was dealing with a young girl, he tried again. "I'm testing for termites", he said.
"Okee dokee. My name is Cindy", she said in a very strained squeaky voice. "What's your name?". Cindy was holding her arms behind herself and rocking her shoulders back and forth in a cutesy manner.
Sean was perturbed and wanted her to go away, but he played along as best as he could. "It's Sean", he said, as he noticed that something wasn't quite right with Cindy's appearance.
"Wanna know a secret?", she squeaked.
Sean leaned a little toward her. He tried to get a better look at her as he said "What would that be?"
Cindy's left arm swiftly spun from behind her, and Sean gasped when he saw the aerosol can that she was holding. It was pointed directly at his face. She had done this before, and her timing was perfect. At the very moment that Sean pulled away and tried to catch his breath, Cindy released the contents of the can.
Sean choked on the spray, but managed to articulate " W h h h y y ?"
Cindy watched him slowly slump to the ground. His eyes were barely still open as she said "Because Alice wants more club members, and you are going to join us whether you like it or not."
