KNIGHT OF
THE MAID

It was black as night, but dull, no life at all, there were dents from many years of battle, the sheen of the armour had lost all of its shine, it’s splendour, there was also hairline cracks of where some pieces of the armour had been split in two from something so sharp, that it made a clear cut through it, obviously some poor blacksmith had been used to weld the pieces back together again. Not an easy task, the armour did not look as though it really could withstand a battle, one blow simply could make the whole thing fall apart.
No self-respecting knight would dare have or accept such a suit of armour. Then why had this particular suit been repaired? Surely not for actual use, definitely it was not of any value apart from sentimental, though it was being held so badly together, even for those reasons, would seem over kill for any knight. So why was it there, out on display among other things that were as badly worn and as old as the suit of armour itself? Surely the knight who had it out on such a display must be out of his mind.
Then again, if you were the only true last remaining knight from the grand order and legacy of Knights, the greatest that ever was. Who has fought so many battles, too many to tell, countless lives lost in battle, too many wounds to help make new again, a cause lost in the midst of time. Then, you just may well too, be, quite possibly mad. The great order of the Knights was no longer the proud, noblest, well liked and loved, good men…. Nay… the great men they had once used to be.
All of that was gone now, no one loved them anymore, they were disliked, even hated, by everyone, the knights of great and noble deeds etc. Failed them all, they had failed everyone, everything that they had long stood for. When the Dark Siege came, with an entire legion of Immortal Dead Warriors, (War Wraiths) the great knights fled in fear, they fled trying to save their own lives, rather than sacrifice their lives for others. Shocked distraught that such great and bold noble knights ever being capable of such things, people from everywhere, brave enough, angry enough, or did not care enough if they were to die. All gathered, or on their own and single handily sought out the knights and fought them to their deaths. No Knight was safe from anyone.
