Part 1: Today is Monday, August 2, 1978 in the small town of Franklin, Kentucky. Robert is on his own now at age 19 and is homeless. He managed to work a day at the labor pool but only earned $30. The first thing Robert did was eat a nourishing meal at Dennys Diner.
Robert walked the streets of Franklin with only a duffle bag that contains a few clothes and personal belongings. He asked several people where a cheap place is to spend the night. Several recommended Ms. Clark’s Homeless Shelter.
Robert got directions and managed to get a ride hitch hiking to Ms. Clarks Homeless Shelter. He knocked at the door around 7 pm just before it gets dark outside. Robert did not want to sleep on a park bench.
“Hello young man,” Ms. Clark said answering the door. “Do you need a room for the night?”
“Yes mamm, I am new in town and presently homeless,” Robert said a bit desperate to find a room.
“This is a homeless shelter for females but I am sure the shelter for males is full to capacity,” Ms. Clark replied.
“Oh no! I did not realize that mamm,” Robert exclaimed.
Ms. Clark feeling sorry for the young male decided to allow Robert to stay there under certain conditions. First he must be given a bath after registering as Roberta. The records will show another female has checked in.
“That would be great mamm,” Robert said, “I need a bath.”
Robert is happy to have a place to stay the night. He needs a bath and has a change of clothes in the duffle bag. Ms. Clark rings a bell and Susan responds with Jenny. They see Robert with the long black hair but he looks male for sure.
“Please take Robert to the bathing area and give him a bath,” Ms. Clark said, “yes he is a male but the registration show him as Roberta.”
Ms. Clark has a private talk with Susan and Jenny. They giggle and escort Roberta to the bathing area. He is told to undress as a hot bath is prepared. Bubble bath that smells like flowers is added to the warm water.
“Could I have some privacy please,” Roberta spoke up.
“No mamm, we are giving you the bath as instructed,” Susan responded.
Susan is 21 years old and very attractive at 5’ 10” tall. She weighs about 150 pounds and has long red hair. Jenny is bigger at 6’ tall weighing 170 pounds. Jenny age 24 is also attractive with long blond hair.
Robert is not a large male, he is quite small at 5’ 4” tall weighing just 120 pounds. He looks like a boy next to these large women. Slowly Robert undresses and is about to step in the bubble bath.
“Wait just a minute Robert,” Susan said, “stand on the bathmat while we rub you with liquid soap.”
Robert never heard of this type of soap, it is called Nair cleansing hair remover. He only sees the large print that reads Nair. Susan and Jenny cover his body with Nair.
“Good job Jenny, we have Robert soaped up from head to toe except his eyelashes and the hair on his head,” Susan said. “We can wash his hair with the shower sprayer.”
Robert is delayed for several minutes before being allowed to step into the warm bubble bath. He is glad to do this since his skin is stinging from the Nair cleansing hair remover. Robert even lays down in the tub at this point.
“Good just lay there for 5 minutes and we will rinse you with a wash cloth,” Susan said smiling.
When told to Robert stands up and both ladies wipe him down with a wash cloth and rinse him off. To Robert’s surprise his body hair is now gone. He does not like this and speaks up about it.
“What is that Nair soap anyway?” Robert said, “All my body hair just washed away.”
“Relax sweetie, you are registered as Roberta,” Jenny said, “You cannot have hairy legs, hairy chest, and whiskers.”
Robert understands now but it is too late to do anything about this. His hair is washed with baby shampoo and rinsed with clean water. Robert is helped out of the tub and dried with a large soft pink towel. His shoulder length black hair is wet combed to get the tangles out.
“From now on we refer to you as Roberta,” Susan said, “make sure you answer to that name.”
“Wrap the towel around your waist and we will escort you to your room,” Jenny instructed Roberta. “If you are lucky and obey the rules you can stay her for a while.”
