Ocean-View Super Bowl:
It was a lovely Saturday night, with families and friends, all at the newly opened Super Bowl. As bowling was one of America’s most favourite past times, it was a game both liked and loved by boys and girls of all ages, as well as adults too. Bowling was fun and competitive, but it was never taken ever too seriously. For little ones, they usually got helped out by their parents, though this new Super Bowl, had gotten specially designed lighter bowling balls for little ones from 2-12, to be able to pick up and throw the ball down the bowling alleyway.
There was a boy by the name of David Blake who was with his mates, some were the same age as him, while others were older. David was 13 years old, he had shoulder length blonde hair, blue eyes, he was of a small build and he stood only at 5ft 4in tall. Which was quite tall for his age, as those who were the same age as what he was, they were only 5ft 1in to 5ft 3in tall at best. All of the much older boys were of course a whole lot more taller.
Anyway David and his mates were mocking the girls that were there, trying to knock down all 9 skittles, set in a triangle formation. A total of 4 was the best most of the girls could score, with only a few that could get at least get 5 skittles down all in one go. Despite 5 being quite a good score, David scoffed at the girls efforts, as he shouted in their direction. “You girls do not know how to throw a bowling ball. You wouldn’t be able to do it, even if you had muscles.” But all of the girls simply ignored him.
Just then a little girl of 5 years old approached the bowling alley, although she virtually almost looked like a boy, as her hair was short, but curly (Girly curls) with a pink ribbon set atop of her head and it was almost the only pink that she was wearing, other than her pink and white sneakers that were on her little feet, other than this, she was wearing blue jeans, white T-Shirt and white sports socks. David looked utterly surprised, thinking to himself, a girl that young should really be wearing a pretty dress, playing with dollies, and not trying to play bowling.
With that thought in his mind, he simply approached her and said out loud for all to hear. “Hey, little girl. Shouldn’t you be wearing a pretty little dress. I bet you would not be able to bowl while wearing one.” All of a sudden the little girl burst out into tears and ran off to her mummy. “Oh and you could do better I take it, while wearing one?” Came a sudden older girls voice, as a 15 year old girl approached David, she was wearing completely all boys clothes, she wore a baseball cap on her head and she had her hair in a pony tail. “What?” Remarked David in confusion. “You heard.” Replied the 15 year old girl.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t know or understand Girl Speak, as you girls are all the same, you say silly and stupid things that only girls can actually understand.” David’s mother was close by and she looked as though she was about to go over and give her son a good telling off. But the girl that was before David did not seem at all that upset, as she replied to him. “Alright, I’ll make this plain, clear and simple enough even for you to understand. Since you think that little girl you just upset won’t b e able to bowl while wearing a pretty little dress, I suggest that you try to bowl while wearing one instead.”
As she said this, a lot of people in the bowling complex all burst out laughing. “Get lost.” Replied David, with a scowl on his face. Just then, his mother came to intervene, as she had a feeling that things between him and this girl were going to get out of hand real quick. She grabbed him by his ear, much to the amusement of everyone at the bowling complex and dragged David out and into the parking lot. She then opened the driver’s side door with one hand, while she held David ‘s ear in a firm grip with her other hand.
Sarah was her name, as she then unlocked the passenger seat next, and shoved David into it. She slammed the door shut, before getting into the car herself. “I suggest that you buckle up mister. Just wait until I get you home.” She remarked, raising her voice to her son and was not at all happy about that. David had been well known, to be a good boy, well behaved etc. But things began to change the moment when he turned 13 years old. Sarah feared the worst, that she may have a troublesome teen on her hands.
David’s father was a no good bum, and he left Sarah to bring David up all on her own, though she was helped by the whole community of Ocean-View, a seaside resort and a popular town to boot. Everyone knew each other and they were all practically good friends with one another, there was he odd few that were not so friendly, but not enough of them to spoil things for the entire good willed community. Those that were at the bowling complex were shocked as to what had happened.
