Background:
Joan and Hank just divorced after 15 years of marriage. Hank liked the ladies too much, as a Bartender he fooled around with a few. Joan found out and she divorced him for adultery. This left Joan with the house and kid, also $500 a month alimony payments.
Bobby was glad to be in custody of mom, she was the one who always took care of him. Bobby is in school days and spent very little time with dad because of his working nights. After the divorce, at age 15 Bobby started wetting the bed. This has been going on for a year, since Bobby just had his 16th birthday.
Jane Munson is Joan’s sister and Bobby’s aunt. She has not yet married and works as a CNA at Florida Hospital. She works part time and makes good money. Her Condo turned into a rental complex and the office bought her out. She has till April 1st to vacate the unit.
After the divorce Hank moved into a deluxe Hotel at Disney World. He is still tending bar and rakes in the tips. Bobby staying with mom, is a Junior at Orlando High. He makes good grades and is on the swim team. Mom works at a local Red Lobster, she makes excellent tips for a part time waitress.
Chapter One
Mom is well off financially with the alimony, house half paid for, and her P/T job at Red Lobster. She works lunch and dinner shifts 4 days per week. Bobby is in the 11th grade and attending high school Monday thru Friday, 8am to 3pm.
Bobby has been wetting the bed several nights a week since the divorce a year ago. Mom is finally addressing the issue with him, she is sick of washing wet bed sheets, blankets, wet underwear, and pajamas. She has a washer and dryer.
“I know the divorce has been hard on you Bobby,” said mom, “you have been wetting the bed often since dad and I split up.” “It has been a year now and I am sick of the extra laundry and pee smell in your room,” mom continued.
“I am sorry mom it just started happening,” said Bobby, “you know I had stopped wetting the bed when I was 5.” “It just happens now and I don’t know how to stop it, I don’t do it on purpose,” Bobby explained.
Mom understands, but she warns Bobby to get it under control by April 1st. “Your aunt Jane is moving in the first of April Bobby, she had to sell her Condo,” mom said. “We can’t have you wetting the bed with her here,” mom continued, “so do the best you can to stop and she will never find out.”
Mom explains that a 16 year old boy should not be wetting the bed. She suggests getting up at night to pee, instead of falling back asleep. Mom suggests Bobby not drink anything after 9 pm, he has to be in bed by 11 on school nights.
“Your aunt Jane is a Certified Nursing Assistant, if your problem does not get better I will have to discuss it with her,” mom explained, “you have one month to stop bedwetting and avoid that.”
Bobby is worried, he does not want to be exposed as a bedwetter at his age, especially to his aunt Jane the nurse. He still does not realize what will happen if aunt Jane is consulted. Jane has experience with diapering patients of all ages.
“I will try to do better mom,” said Bobby, “aunt Jane does not need to know about this.” Bobby figures if he can’t control bedwetting, then mom will have to continue to do the extra laundry. Why would it be different with aunt Jane here?
The discussion is over and Bobby must seriously try to stop the bedwetting. Two weeks go by with no changes. Joan is working hard at Red Lobster, Hank is not heard from, and Bobby is doing well in high school. Unfortunately Bobby is still wetting the bed 3 or 4 times a week.
Joan decides to consult her sister Jane about Bobby’s problem in person. Things are going to be different starting April 1st when Jane moves in. “I need your help with a medical problem,” Joan said to Jane, “Bobby started wetting the bed a year ago, after Hank and I got divorced.”
“That’s an awful thing for a 16 year old to deal with,” said Jane, “I know it must be hard on you too.” Jane suggests an appointment with a Urologist to make sure the bedwetting is just an emotional issue and not a serious medical condition.
“If he has not been sick or had other symptoms, I think he will be fine,” said Jane reassuringly,” Joan concludes she will make her son Bobby the appointment while talking to Jane. Jane recommends a good Urologist for a boy of 16.
“We will need to start diapering Bobby for bed every night,” said Jane, “I can get plenty of youth disposable diapers and plastic pants from the hospital.”
“Oh my goodness he will not like that,” said Joan, “how is mommy going to explain to her 16 year old he’s going back in diapers every night.”
“If they find something medically wrong, he will need diapers till it is corrected,” explained Jane, “If they conclude it’s an emotional problem he will need diapers until he settles down or maybe gets therapy.”
Bobby’s fate is decided he is going back in diapers when aunt Jane moves in. she will supply them, along with plastic pants, diaper rash cream, and baby powder. Mom will let the doctor break the news to Bobby when he sees him.
Another week goes by and Bobby has fun in school and wins one first place ribbon at a swim meet. Aunt Jane is making preparations to move in with Joan and Bobby. Joan is preparing the house for her sister, she fixes up the spare bedroom. At the end of the week mom surprises Bobby with the Urologists appointment. “Talk to him about your bedwetting,” mom said, “then let him examine you.”
Mom takes Bobby to his appointment with the Urologist and he consults with Bobby about his bedwetting. Bobby is embarrassed, but this is a doctor. “Yes sir I started wetting the bed a year ago and I don’t know why,” Bobby explained.
The doctor consulted with Bobby and examined him. The Urologist ran a few blood tests and a Bladder Scan. He will call Joan with the results in a few days. Joan gets advice from the doctor about diapers while Bobby gets dressed. The doctor agrees diapers are medically necessary till the problem is solved.
“Have a seat Bobby and let me explain a few things to you,” said Dr. Clark, “I have found nothing wrong so far, but the test results take a few days.” The doctor tells Bobby he is most likely experiencing emotional upset due to family problems.
“I have advised your mother to put you back in diapers at bedtime,” Dr. Clark said, “please let her, it is much better for both of you and the only solution right now.”
“I can’t believe you told mom to put me in diapers at 16 years old,” said Bobby, “I am not a baby and don’t want to be diapered like one every night.”
“I wrote a prescription for your diapers and gave it to your mother,” Dr. Clark said, “thick absorbent diapers and all the supplies are covered by insurance.”
“Your aunt Jane works at the hospital,” mom said, “I’ll give her the doctor’s prescription, she can bring the diapering supplies with her when she moves in.”
Bobby suddenly realizes it has already been decided that he will be diapered every night because of his bedwetting. He also knows his aunt Jane will help mom make sure of it. Bobby does not like the idea at all.
“April 1st you start being diapered for bed by either me or aunt Jane,” mom insisted, “I don’t want any argument about it!” Mom laid down the law and Bobby has a week left to stop wetting the bed.
Aunt Jane gladly picked up all diapering supplies from the hospital when she went to work on the following Monday. Friday is April 1st and she will bring diapering supplies with her when she moves in. Bobby finishes the week at school, but is not able to stop from wetting the bed 3 times in 4 days.
