So I've been following this site for quite a while, and even made an account a while back, but only just started posting much at all last night, so, um, :
(I'm on Fetlife under the handle traing33k)
I'm genderqueer/genderfluid and switch between boy, girl, and mixed genders/gender-expressions based on my mood. I've started going out in public femme on a regular basis last fall and have managed to acquire a fairly respectable girl-wardrobe already. ^_^ (I also started documenting my outfits in a photojournal - it will be at www.acunninghat.com but the site is still under construction and rather broken at the moment - acunninghat.blogspot.com should give you an idea of the content in the meantime)

No, it's the one from the fight in the bar and when they land on Miranda (well, technically those are two slightly different dresses, but for practical purposes they're the same)

I WILL have Kaylee's layer cake dress from Shindig! I'm torn between commissioning it and makign it myself - either I won;t have the money to afford it for a while, or I won't have the sewing skills to make it for a while... but one day, it will be mine!

Your cosplay costume is good, maybe if you could get some styling help with that hair from a friend or other convention Serenity fan, it could perhaps be styled a little closer to the character, with little extra investment. Never know till you ask.

actually, that is a slightly different dress from mine - hard to tell in that lighting, but it's a dark green dress actually from the end fight scene: http://caps.cruel-kindness.net/displayimage.php?album=100&pos=4018

(I've spent WAY too much time observing these in extreme detail...)
(heh, and I have both the US region 1 orriginal release, the Australian release, region 4 I think, and the US region 1 collector's edition, along with the international poster which is identical to the region 2 and 3 dvd covers ^.^)

And yea, I'm working on the wig styling with some friends (most of them are tomboys and not so helpful in these matters sadly ^.^), and looking into getting contacts (I'm BLIND without my glasses...) I WILL make this a more respectable cosplay!
