Cosplay/Crossplay is dressing up as your fav. anime/game person and having fun with others that are doing the same, cosplay is really big at anime conventions, there are competitions and everything. Its fun ^_^

There are many a sites that you can order any outfit you want, granted they are not cheap. If you can sew or know someone that can, you can get patterns fairly cheap aswell. One of the outfits i am plaining on is an "American Magee Alice" hey what can i say i do have a dark side . past ones that I have done are Sailor Moon, Sailor Chibi-Moon, Sailor Mercury, Akari from "To Heart", a standard Blue SeiFuku, and Hazuki from "Tsukuyomi Moon Phase". Yes i enjoy it id say ^_^ lol

I was lucky to find a g/f that had fun dressing me up and had some intrest in anime/manga as well ^_^
Sadly neither of us could sew so we had to commision the outfits, they werent too expencive, some turned out great while others were just kinda blah.
I'd suggest for your friend Dafne to offer to make cosplay outfits too, im sure he/she would make a bundle on them if the prices were fair

I just went to an anime Con! I dressed upas my own made-up manga character though, so no one knew who I was, though alot of people loved my outfit, I don't have a picture, but I do have a pic of the character I dressed up as on my website, anyways im so joining
