I would say the "prevalance of STDs" and leave off the gay scene part. I think getting a STD is a perfectly valid concern when you are having relations with someone you hardly know. I myself am 100% clean and intend to stay that way.

When I almost got HPV, it was kind of a shock. I mean, we used a condom and were safe, but HPV is spread by skin contact, not necessarily bodily fluids, and can have no symptoms.

My main concern is STDs in general, and I always practice safe sex (even though sex for me is best described as 'infrequent'). But also, I don't really want to go to a gay bar alone. Heck, I don't like going to regular bars alone. But then if I don't go alone, I'm going with people I know with the intention of hooking up with someone, and that also I think would be kinda awkward. I'm not really sure how to go about this whole thing really. I'm just very conflicted.

Gonna be a party pooper and suggest that maybe, just maybe...
There is someone here that would share your idea, I know the whole girl on girl thing alot of times is off setting to most, but I've found that it is really wonderful.
